A song that comes to us from the beginning 800, when a few brave patriots Italian struggled to build the unity of Italy, which would be realized only in 1861 and completely only in 1918. Among these brave there were also some young from Turin who on several occasions between 1820 and 1828, had to face for their ideas carbonare imprisonment and death by hanging. There is no hatred nor regret in this song of one of those sentenced to death by King Carlo Felice, not surprisingly nicknamed Carlo "the fierce". The judgment was posted in Piazza San Carlo and performed there. Transpires from this beautiful singing only the pride of the just and the aspiration to freedom, so that may be associated naturally to similar songs of death row inmates of the Resistance, over a century later.
