Soli Deo Gloria

Peter Bannister Appointed Associate Artistic Director of Soli Deo Gloria

Soli Deo Gloria is pleased to welcome the visionary leadership of Peter Bannister as Associate Artistic Director.

I can hardly overstate the importance of Peter Bannister in my own life as a friend and colleague, or in the life of SDG as wise counselor and creative energy source. He is the kind of faith-driven artist SDG is all about and I welcome him to his new post with enthusiasm. - John Nelson, Artistic Director

Peter Bannister is held in high regard internationally for his acclaimed work as a composer and performer and his perceptive research and scholarship as a musicologist and theologian. SDG has been privileged to benefit from Mr. Bannister's creative input since he joined the board of directors in 2006. We are pleased to welcome him to this leadership role and look forward to all he will bring to our activity in this position. As Associate Artistic Director, Mr. Bannister will work closely with Artistic Director John Nelson to oversee SDG's program activity in the area of new music, including commissions for new works, repeat performances and recordings of contemporary music. Mr. Bannister was preceded in this position by conductor Delta David Gier, who continues to serve SDG as a member of the board.
I am delighted to be pursuing my collaboration with Soli Deo Gloria at what is clearly a very exciting time for the organization in terms of the quality and breadth of our current and future projects. I count myself as privileged to be working with some of the world's leading artists who share the conviction that the riches of the Judeo-Christian tradition have a genuine relevance for the contemporary world; I look forward to doing whatever I can to further the goals of SDG in bringing together people of faith with the musical arts at the highest level. - Peter Bannister, Associate Artistic Director

In the interview below, Peter Bannister speaks with host Greg Wheatley on Moody Radio's Prime Time America about his activity as a composer and SDG's anthem project inspired by the Hebrew Psalter.
