A Single Note Beautifully Played

A light has been switched on.

I feel as though my immediate-term artistic survival depends on finding a way to (tactfully) impart the quote a single note is beautifully played to the dour-handed colleague next to me, who literally hurts my ears as well as my musical performance. 

But perhaps I sound like that to her.
