Dear ladies and gentlemen,

the Porfiri & Horváth Publishers (former Edition Music Contact) would like to take this opportunity to present itselves as the publisher of international choral literature.

Since the founding of our Edition in 1997 we adapted up to 600 titles of children-, male-, female- and mixed choirs to our edition program. More than 80% are revised editions and new original compositions. The range reaches from a-cappella to accompanied arrangements and orchestra arrangements with choirs. This includes various styles of music from motets to folksongs as well as pop songs.

Our published pieces often arise in collaboration with the composers and various choirs. They were recommended and chosen for many international choir competitions because they can be sing easily. Additionally we are able to offer any level of difficulty – from a simple folk arrangement to the highest levels of difficulty.

By dint of our new artistic director Mr. Aurelio Porfiri we intend to develop our internationality. Recently we have modernized our online presence so that we can improve our response towards the international market.

Using our numerous contacts to international composers we are able to offer the works of outstanding representatives of today’s composing generation. They contribute to the high standards of today’s choral music not only in their own country but also internationally:

Argentina: Oscar Escalada; Marcelo Valva; Australia: Colin Brumby; Austria: Josef Grabner; Brasil: Nestor Miguel Wennholz: Canada: Nancy Telfer; Czech Republic: Petr Eben; Germany: Ronald J. Autenrieth, Gerhard Faatz, Reiko Füting; Hungary: Miklós Csemiczky, Lajos Huszár, Dénes Legány, József Karai, Miklós Mohay, Tamás Pánczél, György Selmeczi, János Vajda; Italy: Domenico Bartolucci, Bruno Bettinelli, Marco Crestani, Orlando Dipiazza, Andrea Miglio, Valentino Miserachs Grau, Herbert Paulmichel , Aurelio Porfiri, Battista Pradal, Ireland: Colin Mawby; Lithuania: Vytautas Miskinis, Malta: Joseph Vella; Spain: Antoni Martorell; Poland: Milosz Bembinow, Marian Borkowsky , Piotr Janczak, Marek Jasinski, Józef Swider, Michael Zielinski; Serbia: Dusan Maksimovic, Aleksandar S. The Threshold Bookcast : Chapter 13 : Keys To Ascension

Chapter 13 : Keys To AscensionRahu Lüli, the teenage monk from Kõrgus, is once again the central character of the weekly instalment of the Threshold Bookcast. This time, we find the novice reminiscing as he explores unknown territory uphill, following a hunch that has occurred to him prior to the morning ritual. « « Gazing up, the apprentice had detected an odd detail. Something was decidedly wrong about the view, and it couldn't but have a meaning. Over the years, the pitch black walls of…See More

Rossini: Feminist Crusader

Taconic Opera will be presenting a fully orchestrated mass in June by the famed composer, Gioacchino Rossini, widely known for his comedic operas like The Barber of Seville and, of course, the universally recognizable overture from his opera William Tell.  However, this is not just any Mass: it has a very remarkable historical component that would be of interest to both music historians and women everywhere.  The Petite Messe Solennelle (small solemn mass) was originally written to feature…See More

Maryland Choral Society: Dona Nobis Pacem at Mount Calvary Catholic Church

May 20, 2012 from 4pm to 7pm
Ralph Vaughan Williams's Dona Nobis Pacem, written in the years just prior to the outbreak of World War II, blends the poetry of Walt Whitman with the cry for peace ("Dona nobis pacem") embodied within the Agnus Dei of the traditional Latin mass. It is a piece of tremendous drama, emotional scope, and eloquence, and it has much wisdom to offer to us and the world in which we live. The Maryland Choral Society will perform the piece in the rarely-heard version for strings and piano, a reduced…See More
