A Moment of Despair

Just to vent, I had an epiphany of a negative sort in church yesterday. I was standing in the bass section of our "Traditional" church choir, not joining in the singing of one of the praise songs for that morning, because the practice of that form of congregational singing makes me so uncomfortable. Ergo, I was trying to concentrate on the actual words being sung, and seeing if I could separate the message from the music. The singing was being accompanied by a very loudly played piano, acoustic…See More

Thank you Dean for your comment on my page. I will pass it on to the Amarillo group in the video. This was a challenging piece for these young men and I felt they met the challenge very well. I'm sure they would love to hear what you said. Glad you enjoyed my composition too. I'm hoping to add another video soon when I get back into town of another commissioned work called "To Dwell in the House of the Lord" which was commissioned by St. Mary's Church Choir in Amarillo.

All the best,
Janet

I share your passion for great church music. I have to confess, though, that I also am grateful that the church has the "wiggle room" to accept many forms of worship music. Having said that, I certainly wish the 21st century church could regain its devotion to excellence. Schlock is NOT a good thing, regardless of the style! :-)
