DESCRIPTION:Perhaps the most complex tonal choral masterpiece ever wri
 tten, this program of powerful anti-war choral music features Francis 
 Poulenc's Figure Humaine, a piece composed for a cappella double choru
 s while Paris was occupied by Nazi forces during World War II. In expl
 aining his setting to critic Claude Rostand, Poulenc said, \"I compose
 d the work for unaccompanied choir… because I wanted this act of fai
 th to be performed without instrumental aid, by the sole means of the 
 human voice.\" The program also includes works by 2006 Choral Composit
 ion Competition First-Prize winner Richard McIntyre, two-time Composit
 ion Competition honorable mention Richard Rice, Roger Davidson (World 
 Premiere) and Benjamin Britten (Voices for Today). This concert is co-
